Some fun on the rocks with Cassie’s new bike and her old man. The first few days were rainy and quite chilly so she and her father made a visit to Arches and hiked around some of the most famous landmarks in the area. When the weather abided they rode many of the amazing trails all around Moab and Capt’ A-hab for the first time. Cassie is loving her Juliana!
That pretty yellow bike right there is Cassie’s brandy new Juliana Furtado that she received through her ambassadorship with them. Cassie was so excited about her new bike she hopped right on the trail to soon find out why most people wait for the snow to melt before they head out on the trails. It was quite slippery but also a blast, she can’t wait for more fun adventures on this great bike.
As I’m starting to make plans for the winter and skiing around Colorado, including Crested Butte, I remember back to this summer coaching there for a week with a group of six SMBA riders and two other coaches, riding the best trails and doing lots of push ups and cooking and eating delicious food!
A great season it was for the Boulder High Mountain Bike Team. Taking State Champions for the fourth year! We had our end of the season banquet with letter awards for junior varsity, varsity, and freshman and sophomore top ten!
Looking back on the season with four medals and a letter!
At the third race in the 2014 season, Cassie battled hard with the leaders group switching between 1st and 2nd most of the first lap despite being taken out by a tree. By the end of the race she was right behind two other riders, finishing less than a second behind her teammate in 4th place.
Here are some pictures of Cassie in her second race in Leadville, the Cloud City Challenge. Cassie started off not feeling so well in 5th for the first hill but as soon as she hit the downhill she sped up two places and battled in third and fourth for the rest of the race finishing in third!
